OURcommonWEallth programs joins with the Washington County Agriculture Marketing Department and Renewable Energy Stewardship, Inc. in hosting THREE free evening programs to help residents – especially farmers and rural small businesses and rural homeowners — reduce their increasing electricity costs. And this in turn can make farming operations more viable.
Rebecca Rush, Outreach Coordinator for this OURcommonWEalth Series said, “There are a variety of ways that everyone can get involved to reduce our demand on the electric GRID and in doing so, increase our energy independence. We’re proud to present these Wind Energy, Thermal Energy and Conservation of Energy programs free to the public.” Rush continued,
“With more generous Federal Tax Credits and State Incentives now available, payback periods are shorter than ever.” “Washington County passed a Small Wind Turbine and Solar Array Permit ordinance in JUNE of 2009,” observed Dr. Carlos Fernandez, president of Potomac Wind Energy and a presenter on Tuesday night. “Frederick County passed a similar ordinance in May 2009, making it possible for the first time to pull a permit for small wind turbines.”
